Salish Sea Native American Culture Day
Join the Samish and Swinomish Tribes for a day of music, storytelling, craft demonstrations and free canoe rides! The festivities will begin at 11 a.m. at Bowman Bay (Click here to view park map). Grilled salmon and fry-bread lunch available for purchase from 12 – 1 p.m.
Please note: June 9 is a State Parks free day in recognition of National Get Outdoors Day. Discover Pass not required to attend this event.

The Deception Pass Challenge

The Inaugural Deception Pass Challenge will be on June 16th, 2012 at 8 a.m.
Swim Cranberry Lake, mountain bike through Hoypus Forest, and run to the highest point on Whidbey Island!
All proceeds support education, interpretation and resource protection at Deception Pass State Park.
Race Info:
Swim: 800 meter triangle course in Cranberry Lake with a water start. Water temperature is typically between 55 and 60 degrees at this time of year (wetsuits recommended).
Bike: Approximately 13 miles with a mixture of road and trails (mountain bike highly recommended).
Run: Approximately 4 mile run from West Beach, to the top of Goose Rock (484 ft) and back to the start along North Beach.
- The Challenge costs $50 for an individual or $100 for a team of three.
- T-shirts feature the Challenge Logo (see right).
- Prizes given to top finishers.
- A course map can be viewed below.
- Deception Pass is a Washington State Park. Therefore, a Discover Pass is required to park at this event. Click here to learn about other ways of getting to the park.

Entry Cancellation Policy: Full refunds (minus PayPal’s processing fee) can be issued until June 1st. After this date, the fees from cancelled entry fees will be considered donations to the Deception Pass Park Foundation (a 501c(3) non-profit).
